In His Own LANGUAGE: Mormon Spanish Speaking Congregations in the United States

By Jessie L. Embry

"In His Own Language:" Mormon Spanish Speaking Congregations in the United States looks at the experiences of Spanish speaking members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It reviews the history of the Church's Spanish speaking missions which operated in the western United States from 1915-70. It discusses Spanish speaking wards and branches mainly in the Western United States. The book uses the 94 oral histories in the LDS Hispanic Oral History Project sponsored by the Redd Center.

Jessie L. Embry is the Assistant Director and Oral History Program Director of the Charles Redd Center at Brigham Young University. She is also the author of Mormon Polygamous Families: Life in the Principle, Black Saints in a White Church, Asian American Mormons: Bridging Cultures and many articles dealing with Mormon, Utah, and Western American topics.
